Pandemic….Some Still Talking About Bike Lanes

Has the severity of the pandemic hit everyone yet?

Nope.

Local group Radiofree Bay Ridge had an interesting “loaded” tweet today:

If Radiofree Bay Ridge thought people deserved protected bike lanes, why did members of Radiofree Bay Ridge support, push and demand painted bike lanes.

Radiofree Bay Ridge is the only outlet that has reported that there have been accidents and people have been hurt (thankfully not seriously) near a bike lane.

Radiofree Bay Ridge is a small group, but there is no way that any one of them isn’t aware that several of their members were bike advocates and asked for the painted bike lanes in Bay Ridge.

Wait….it gets a bit more tangled. Radiofree Bay Ridge didn’t respond….but Councilman Justin Brannan does. Brannan’s used to playing the Democrat – Republican card and that’s not going to work here.

Brannan’s busy living in his head. I have never advocated for parking because I have parking (a neighbor gave me advice before I moved here and I listened to her).

I wrote to Community Board 10 asking for covered bike lanes only.

The children of this community need safe roads to ride on.  My student died riding a bike right outside of this district.  I wrote a letter to CB 10 because it was important. I felt Community Board 10 was very thorough and heard the community. They voted against many of the bike lanes. Brannan overrode their decision because he thought he knew better.   Look what a mess we have on the road now, especially the bike lane by the highway.

Cyclists are not road designers and putting bikes where they ask has proved dangerous. Radiofree BayRidge.

Councilman Brannan frequently tells people “I have no idea what you are talking about.”  He does!

I leave this here for my neighbors, so we can remember who was pushing an agenda, even during a serious time like this.
