My Grandmother’s Elves
A friend and I were reminiscing a few weeks ago. My friend asked me, “If you could have one item from your past what would it be?” I answered so quickly and surprised my friend. “One of my grandmother’s elves.” There is absolutely nothing special about these elves other than each Christmas season, I helped my grandmother cover the living with these crazy knee hugging elves. My friend laughed quite a bit….Today, I opened a box containing a blast from the past….a knee hugging elf just like my grandmothers. Sweet, sweet memories.((A good blogger would share a photo here…..soon my friends).
Hugs,
marlene

Hey, That is so cool you got an elf! We have also been talking about those years gone by and what was our favorite childhood experiences that our children would probably never get to do. Like block parties, bomb fires in the middle of winter on the pond, helping on grandparents farm, the way the county fairs used to be, a milkman and so on.
The sewing machine cover was fairly easy to make. Considering I rarely sew! I tried to follow her directions like measured the machine but the pinning part baffled me to the point I almost gave up. I draped the large piece over the machine and then started pinning from the bottom up. I ended up with a few inches more material than I should have had for some reason or another and just cut that off and continued pinning all the way around till I was at the bottom of the other side. Then I did the other side the same way. Sewing wasn’t bad I did end up with a little hole on a corner and went back and redid that part to close it up. I also forgot to do the zig zag stitch as she had said to do but I think it is okay the way it is. It fits the machine and that is all that matters. lol Her link is here http://chezlarsson.typepad.com/myblog/2008/10/sewing-machine-cover-how-to.html
I used an old pillow case for the material. Take Care :)
