Brannan Plays Politics on Vandalism Issue
We didn’t think we would see Justin Brannan do a play out of the old book of politics. Last night at the Community Board 10 meeting, Brannan offered a $5000 reward of his own money for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for vandalism in Bay Ridge last weekend. See here
If you have lived here for a few years, you have seen this happen before! There is no info and no one will come forward….but a politician offers a substantial reward.
Brannan wants residents to lighten up on him, yet he hasn’t offered any solutions to a reoccurring problem. Purchasing cameras for Shore Road would probably deter criminals. Checking that the 68th Precinct is following up on patrolling would help too. The NYPD told us they were patrolling the area already, but that much vandalism takes awhile to do so we know they aren’t there.
People are upset about the vandalism and want Brannan to do something! Some say they are afraid because the cars are being vandalized and restaurants in the area were robbed too. (See here) Even former City Councilman, Sal Albanese hammered at Brannan: (See here)

While both Brannan and Albanese are Democrats, I don’t think they are allies, as Brannan didn’t support Albanese in his election run against Mayor de Blasio. Albanese no longer lives in Bay Ridge, but his heart is still here.
Yesterday must have been veey wearing in Councilman Brannan as he went off at a resident at the end of the night. This resident has spoken up against the “crime is down” banter. Brannan’s had a lot more criticism from trolls and never reacted like this before:
