RCS Turns Away Visitors to the Food Panty
Update: July 29th This food pantry received additional funding from Councilman Brannan NYC Council.
Reaching Out Community Services provides a well-stocked food pantry for this area. This place is located at 7708 New Utrecht Avenue. The video details that they need to turn people away as they don’t have the funding they need.
NYC Council cut funding to Reaching Out Community Services. $80,000 less from the Brooklyn Councilmen – why?

Who was funded this year in place of RCS? A lot of groups received small amounts, but I noticed this merchants group got funded. How is that possible?
Why would a pantry not get funded when we know there are more homeless now than ever before? Why would a Merchants group get funded OVER a food pantry?
Corey Johnson, NYC Council Speaker, heavily funded the Coney Island Alliance….the group sets off fireworks and occasionally has an ice cream party (see here). Luna Park is a business – how are they qualifying as a 503c when the website to the Coney Island Alliance belongs to LunaPark.com? (See here) How did Johnson choose funding fireworks over a food pantry?
Something is not right here….Is politics stopping people from being fed? Is there more to this story?
Hugs,
marlene
