What John Alexander Doesn’t Want Us to Know in Bay Ridge
John Alexander writes articles for the Brooklyn Reporter. Alexander is also listed as a senior editor of the paper (see here).
This week he wrote about the Bay Ridge Memorial Day Parade. Marty Golden was chosen to lead the parade which is nice. But then Alexander just went off talking about Golden and leaving out some key things:
MARTY GOLDEN STOPPED FUNDING THE BAY RIDGE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE. The same paper years before told us the truth (see here)

We could understand if Marty was asked to head the Ragamuffin Parade because he and his wife have been involved in it. We can understand if Marty is asked to lead the Norwegian Day Parade because his former staffer heads that parade. But to lead a parade he didn’t fund…..that’s IRONIC….or idiotic.
We don’t understand why John Alexander doesn’t want Bay Ridge to know the truth about Republican politicians. At first we thought Alexander didn’t understand politics, but as time wore on, we saw Alexander purposely left out important details. John Alexander has never wanted us to know about Marty’s pay-to-play politics which was even discussed this week by Will Bredderman (See here) that was widely shared. Is Alexander so out of touch that he didn’t see it?
We have written to Helen Klein, the editor of the paper several times about issues with the paper printing one-sided articles. Klein doesn’t respond. She is one of the few editors that doesn’t respond to residents – I’ve even had an editor write to me on his son’s wedding day.
Last Fall, we realized that John Alexander didn’t want us to know the truth as he wrote about his friend Marty Golden. NOW we are grateful that Alexander wrote his piece because it allowed many to refute it – including Golden’s opponents. Residents realized that our local paper weren’t telling the whole story. (See here)
I won’t boo when Golden passes during the parade. I won’t cheer for a man who had no problem supporting the tobacco company with legislation (See here), created bills for rich Manhattan developers to get huge tax breaks (See here) while Bay Ridge’s small business owners suffered and Golden did nothing for them.
Hugs,
marlene
