Skunk Sightings in Bay Ridge – aka: Skunk Ridge
Updated: February 2026
February 2026 – 67th Street and Ridge

Since 2019, people have been seeing a lot of skunks in Bay Ridge. I started to keep track of them because the skunk population is growing in Bay Ridge.
The most amount of skunks have been seen on Ridge Blvd between 89th and 91st Street (to Colonial Avenue).
Pepé Le Pew and his extended family live at Visitation at 8902 Ridge Blvd.
Skunks breed in February and March and then the babies are born in April or May. Some Ridgites report seeing small skunks in their backyards.
The skunks live in harmony with the neighborhood, Ridgites like the cute skunks from afar because some have seen skunks catch and eat rats near Shore Road.
1) Skunk near Bridgeview Diner on 3rd Avenue

2) Skunk near Fort Hamilton High School

Thank you for posting this. Upon loading the kids in the car for school this morning we came across a horrible “skunk” smell. Did some internet searching and it seems the only thing that would leave a skunk smell would be a skunk…didn’t think this was likely in Bay Ridge. I live near the highway where the first sighting was posted and now truly believe my car has been sprayed by a skunk.

Saw one crossing 4th Ave and 99 St. Maybe came from CanonBall Park. It almost got hit by a car, but luckily was a fast runner. I hope he finds a good place to hide and stays safe!
