Jerry Kassar, Chief of Staff writes a regular column for the Brooklyn Reporter – Brooklyn Spectator. Jerry and the paper’s editor don’t think it is important for us to know Jerry’s relationship to his boss, Marty Golden. It’s clear that disclosure was necessary here. Why doesn’t Jerry want readers to know that he works for Marty Golden?
In Kassar’s article he wrote about the Proud Boys being at the Manhattan Club. Kassar said he wouldn’t have given the Proud Boys leader that platform to speak. Days before Kassar’s article, jounalist, Kadia Goba revealed that the GOP Leader who OK’d the Proud Boys Event Works for Golden. This man is Golden’s campaign staffer and Kassar purposely left that out of his article. Kassar’s relationship to Marty Golden stops him from reporting the truth to the Brooklyn Reporter readers.
Why is this information important to residents in Bay Ridge? Bay Ridge residents don’t want that here. The Proud Boys are known Islamaphobics and Bay Ridge has a large population of Muslim Americans.
Other Republicans have spoken out against the Proud Boys. Even sleeping Dan Donovan spoke out against the Proud Boys. Marc Moloinaro admitted he wrong for not speaking out against the hate right away. Marty Golden and Nicole Malliotakis have remained silent.
Golden supporters tried to justify the Proud Boys actions against Antifa. See here. No, no, noooooooooo violence is never justified. Both groups are wrong. See the beat down here. When did people start thinking it was okay to retaliate and not call the NYPD? The Proud Boys are being arrested for this.
since Marty Golden is a public servant this topic is being discussed. When Councilman Brannan had someone on a committee who expressed hate, Councilman Brannan immediately fired him. In the Spring, when Senator Golden had a staffer writing anti-semetic Facebook posts, Senator Golden terminated the staffer. Hate is hate and has no place in this community. Why has Senator Golden remained silent this time?
Senator Golden has said that this man is his friend and it is clear to us that he is unable to speak up for his community when friendship is concerned. “What happened to Senator Golden?” has been a question people have been asking for several months? Maybe Senator Golden is afraid to take action here. Senator Golden has not even taken the time to speak out against this incident and cancelled a meeting with a local reporter.
The Brooklyn Reporter should cancel Jerry Kassar’s column as Kassar’s writing isn’t of any help to the community.
Hugs,
marlene
