RIP Mafalda DiMango
Update: Funeral information here. Funeral service is on Monday at St. Bernadette’s.They are making a Madalda DiMango scholarship fund.
Mafalda DiMango was a name known in Brooklyn even when I was a teen. She was active on the community school board here. Years ago, school boards had more power and people elected the representatives on the board. Mafalda won re-election every time.
An interesting fact: Nine years ago, when Lee and I were looking to buy a home, a real estate agent brought us to Mafalda’s house. Her house was next to a school in Dyker Heights. I remember seeing her mail on the table and imagining her running in and out of the cozy house to get to community meetings.
