Fort Hamilton Army Base Shouldn’t Allow Deliveries

The Fort Hamilton Army Base has a full kitchen staff, as well as a Community Club dining area and catering.  In addition, there are other fast food options on base (see map here)

This week, a member of the army base ordered food and didn’t go to the gate to accept it. The delivery man, Pablo Villavicencio was detained until ICE came to arrest him. The military staff is fully aware that anyone going on the base needs government identification. All deliveries should be accepted at the gate and Colonel Peter Sicoli should make that an office rule for the base.  If a resident is going to a party on the Base or even just to the 4th of July or Christmas event at the Army Base, your name has to be on the list at least a week before the event.

The military can not be calling restaurants and trap undocumented workers with the NYCid Card.  Employees can go out to get their own food or accept it at the gate. While we understand that the army base has to protect itself and officers need to follow protocol, the military staff should not be inviting people to the property unless they have been property investigated.

Colonel Peter Sicoli hasn’t made any statement about the situation that happened on his base. Some restaurants in the area have said they aren’t going to deliver to the base (here too). Colonel Sicoli is a father and should have issued a statement by now.

Hugs,
marlene
