Malliotakis Fundraiser Being Held at a Bay Ridge Business that is Closing Due to Tax Increases

At the end of March, it was reported that the Hall of Fame Billiards in Bay Ridge was on market. Owner, Paul Balukas told the paper that the business’s taxes were increasing $20,000 this year. Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis is having her fundraiser at that pool hall at the end of this month.

Marty Golden’s staffer announced the event on Twitter. Golden’s staffer doesn’t live in Brooklyn and he wouldn’t understand what a slap in the face this is to Bay Ridge.

Malliotakis has been pushing for online stores to not have to collect sales tax.  Seriously, online shops do not need a break – they are doing quite well because they don’t have the overhead of rent, insurance and utilities, like local stores do.

Many people in Bay Ridge do not know that Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis voted in favor of huge tax breaks for Manhattan developers. No one in Bay Ridge or Staten Island benefited from this vote.

Yet, Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis doesn’t have even one bill to help small business owners in Bay Ridge.

Hugs,
marlene
