Senator Golden and Nicole Malliotakis Haven’t Done Anything for Local Businesses.

Why are Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis and Senator Marty Golden fighting to save Internet businesses a few dollars, rather than fighting for Bay Ridge’s  neighborhood Mom and Pop Stores? Whose pulling these politicians strings to make them pay attention to sales tax on the Internet? Maybe it’s just Golden’s and Malliotakis’ quick response to Governor Cuomo’s  discussion of an “internet fairness conformity tax.”

Usually Golden and Malliotakis side with Trump, but Trump wants purchases online to be taxed.

If you stood on any major Avenue or Street in Bay Ridge, you would see that many blocks have empty stores. Businesses have been closing like crazy due to high rents for storefronts. Small business owners need a break.

Senator Golden and Nicole Malliotakis aren’t doing anything to help our local stores.  In the last two elections, these two politicians presented the idea that they supported small businesses, but with all the closed shops, how will they do that in the Fall?

Senator Golden has four bills for the cigarette industry this year!! Why hasn’t Nicole Malliotakis called out Marty Golden about this?

On February 26th both Golden and Malliotakis sent a representative to the Community Board 10 Meeting. Their representatives barely said anything. On March 1st, they announced that they would be having a rally the following day outside of Golden’s office. Why didn’t they share this with the community? Cuomo announced the Internet Fairness Conformity Tax on January 16th, so this was not something new.

If someone is shopping from the convenience of their home, they shouldn’t receive a break. The small shops that makeup our community need the break!

Hugs,
marlene
