Update on The Murder on 85th Street in Bay Ridge
On June 20th, Maria Santos Flores, a 36-year-old mother of two from San Salvador was murdered in the entrance of her home on 85h Street in Bay Ridge. She had a huge laceration on her neck and was pronounced dead at the home.
Maria had worked late as a bartender at Huatulco Sports Bar on 36th Street in Brooklyn. Her husband, Antonio Hernandez left the house at 7:30 am that morning to go to work at a warehouse. Maria was not home from work before he left.

Misael Cruz is 43-years-old, 5’8″ and 180 pounds.
Initially, politicians said the police believed the victim and the murderer knew each other. A reporter wrote that Misael may have been stalking Maria. In the photos that the police shared Misael Cruz was seen running with an envelope. Could it be something that was sent to Maria’s house and no one realizes it is “missing” or did Cruz have that in his arm before he went to Maria’s house?
Maria was returned to El Salvador for burial. May she rest in peace. Prayers that the police arrest her killer so her family, friends and neighbors see some justice.
