Happy Pentecost Sunday!

The Holy Spirit is so underrated.

If you made confirmation, you received the Holy Spirit.

It’s a really powerful gift. While the church administers the sacrament, I don’t think they do a good job explaining the Holy Spirit’s power to transform a person from within and how it helps someone live with greater faith, courage and purpose.

In the Bible, Jesus’ disciples went from hiding in fear to boldly preaching after Pentecost. (Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.)

And the Bible explains the power of the Holy Spirit. In John Chapters 14-16, Jesus speaks to the disciples about The Holy Spirit’s importance in our life.

While I am not an expert on the Holy Spirit, I have called on the Holy Spirit in some dire situations (even when I was away from God and the church) and I received incredible help.

After I received help, I started studying the Holy Spirit in the Bible because although I knew I had the Holy Spirit, I didn’t know what else the Holy Spirit could help me do.

People have asked me, “How can I ask the Holy Spirit for help?” The Holy Spirit is not an it, the Holy Spirit is with you. Just say what you are having trouble with and tell the Holy Spirit you need help.it’s okay if you haven’t ever spoken to the Holy Spirit or it’s been decades since you last spoke.

Happy Pentecost Sunday, Bay Ridge! It’s a great day to celebrate God’s gift.

Hugs,
marlene
