1672 – 86th Street: Battery Energy Storage System Station

Senator Steve Chan confirmed that at 1672 – 86th Street, a BESS station is being planned. BESS stands for: Battery Energy Storage System Station. Senator Chan said that there is no application with the Department of Buildings yet.
People are against BESS stations near their homes because they have safety concerns (fires from the batteries).

Well, I hate it when some ‘entity’ tries to get over on any community. But besides that the currently used electricity storage systems all use lithium batteries which are very dangerous. Anyway, the future of electricity storage are ‘solid-state’ batteries which rely upon a nearly two-dimensional substance called graphene. Graphene is derived from graphite, a naturally occurring substance that is biologically inert. The graphene ‘structure’ stores the energy. Charging times 70 times quicker than lithium batteries. Like Howard Hughes said in the movie about him…..’The wave of the future’. Well, I’m tired out. Good Luck, Wayne
