Bay Ridge Service Dog Attacked by Pitbull on 86th Street

Drexel, a service dog was sitting on the ground at his owner’s feet, while she dined outside of The Corner Restaurant on 3rd Avenue and 86th Street in Bay Ridge on June 27th (the story was shown today – July 11th).
A pitbull walking on a leash with his owner walked by and grabbed Drexel. Drexel was able to get away (thankfully). See video:
We watched the video several times. The pitbull may have been spooked by Drexel. It’s a dog and he/she acts on instinct. The pitbull’s owner should use a muzzle, so this doesn’t happen again.
When Drexel’s owner asked the pitbull’s owner for his number, he refused and walked away. The police came and left (Drexel’s owner expected them to return, but they did not).
Other people have had trouble with a pitbull in Bay Ridge. Some Bay Ridge dogs have been seriously hurt this year.
Hugs,
marlene
