Brooklyn Eagle Biased Towards Quaglione vs. 9189
The cover of the September 14th Bay Ridge Eagle paper shows the Eagle’s bias towards the Republican candidate for City Council. Maybe the editor, John Alexander didn’t understand the election results. When 9,189 residents came out to vote for Democrat candidates, while only 3,648 came out to vote for Republicans, THAT’S CALLED NEWS!
Why wasn’t Justin Brannan, who won the District 43 Democratic Primary featured/mentioned on the cover of the Bay Ridge Eagle? Brannan had 3,561 voters come out to cast a vote for him. Also deserving mention was El-Yateem with 2879 votes. Does John Alexander realize that two Democrats had A LOT more votes than John Quaglione, who received 1789 votes? To completely leave Brannan off the cover shows the bias of the Bay Ridge Eagle.
As I shared a few days ago, Eagle reporter, Paula Katinas wrote a comprehensive article about the election. The articles are time stamped so we could see Katinas’ article was published first. Besides leaving Brannan off the cover, John Alexander did an additional article on John Quaglione, but not one on Brannan. Did John Alexander think Katinas’ reporting wasn’t acceptable for the cover of the paper? Or did Alexander want to promote the Republican Party through the paper?
Newspapers which have reporters with biases towards certain candidates don’t help the community. All this article did was show that The Brooklyn Eagle is an unreliable source for information. What’s really messed up is that John Alexander and his family live here, so you would think HE would want to make sure that the newspaper was being honest and free of bias for them.
Justin Brannan and Bay Ridge are owed an apology for this type of media coverage.
