Palestinians Will Protest in Borough Park on 2/18 – Location Change

(Update: See videos here) Pal-Awda has organized a protest for Palestine in Borough Park on Tuesday, February 18th at 6:00 pm at 3611 – 14th Avenue (the original location was 13th Avenue and 50th Street).

Then the Real Estate Expo was cancelled:

On Monday, Caption Kenneth Herrarte of the 66th Precinct said the Real Estate Expo that was supposed to happen has been cancelled.

Pal-awda changed their location to protest across the street from the Shomrin.

These protesters don’t realize the Shomrin are the heroes in Borough Park. They aren’t police, but they keep an eye on the area, help their neighbors and stay in contact with the police.

The Borough Park Shomrin can not help stop the sale of property in Gaza. They help people in Brooklyn, who lost their children, find them. The community calls on the Shomrin when there are suspicious people in the community. The Shomrin calls the police when there is an actual threat.

People and politicians are calling this event out because protesting in Borough Park, which is filled with families is counter-productive. These Brooklyn residents people have nothing to do with what is going on in Gaza – they can’t stop or change the situation for the Palestinians.

Senator Simcha Eichenstein has called on the police to protect the neighborhood. Boro Park also has their own security as well.

Hopefully, this will be a peaceful protest in Brooklyn.

There will also be a counter-protest at 6:00 pm at 1358 – 50 Street.

Hugs,
marlene
