Bay Ridge Property Values Decrease and Taxes Increase

This week, Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights homeowners received their property tax reports. Home values decreased as property taxes increased.
One home owner in Bay Ridge noted that her property’s market value went down $200K. The same residents noted that the property tax increased by 5%. One Dyker Heights residents noted their property taxes increased by almost $500 (and the market value went down $30K)
Our home’s market value is $6.00 more this year from last year. Last year, the market value was down $60K.
Three weeks ago, some residents received an extra charge on their taxes (yes, this happens). They asked Councilman Brannan for help.
Justin Brannan told Bay Ridge homeowners that property taxes decreased. (See here)

Justin Brannan wrote this:

Many people told the head of NYC Council’s Finance Committee that they were charged higher taxes and he just kept saying taxes were lower. Brannan gave out six million dollars to an organization while NYC is strapped for money, so it looks like we are paying for that. (See here)

Every year, Brannan writes nonsense articles, which are published in the newspaper to fool you! Many of you think Brannan is going to do something about property taxes. Throughout the year, when someone asks Councilman Brannan about property taxes, he sends them a link to the article and they are fooled. (See: 2022 article, 2021 article, 2020 article, 2019 article)
Years ago, Chris McCreight, Justin Brannan and Andrew Gounardes told us that the reason property taxes were not fixed was because Marty Golden failed. Golden said he tried, but that Mayor De Blasio was to blame. Golden was not lying. But before De Blasio left office, he had the property tax commission deliver the report. Andrew Gounardes failed to take action.

Now that Democrats rule the city and state, we know it’s Democrats that don’t care that people in Bay Ridge are overcharged.
Chris McCreight announced he is running for NYS assembly and wrote that property taxes were a concern. McCreight has been silent for years as Brannan wrote articles and Gounardes did not advocate for Bay Ridge when he was in Albany. McCreight sat at the Meeting about “the City of Yes” and he didn’t get up to speak.
Senator Andrew Gounardes said he was going to do something, but he was waiting for the property tax commission to give the rate. The Commission returned the rate and Gounardes did nothing.
Gounardes has been in office for five years and has failed to stand up for our community. Andrew should step down and go do something else, so Bay Ridge residents can get help. Everyone has been overcharged about $5000 each year Gounardes remains in office.
We need new representatives!
Hugs,
marlene
