What if the 68th Precinct and Justin Brannan Actually Talked About Crime in Bay Ridge…

The obsession with saying “Crime is Down” in our area needs to stop.

Imagine Justin Brannan, the 68th Precinct and Bay ridge had a real conversation about crime!

I’ll go first……On July 30th, there was a robbery at TD Bank in Bay Ridge. That part is true (see below).

It was shared that the police found “the suspects vehicle” on 88th Street between 4th and 5th Avenue.

They allegedly captured him.

When they had the alleged suspect in custody, Justin Brannan tweeted this:

But something isn’t right here. Neither Brannan, Gounardes or the 68th Precinct updated the public.

If the bank thief was arrested, there would have been:

a) A story in at least one paper. The NYPD arrested a bank robber and a BearCat vehicle was in the area. Yet, there are no stories anywhere!

b) The Captain would have mentioned it at a meeting.

c) Some officers would have been recognized for their work – see the two incredible videos here – no one was.

Anyone talking about crime being down in Bay Ridge – GIVE IT A REST. In order to buy many items at the drugstore, we have to get a store employee to unlock the case.

Captain Schafer started in the beginning of June. (Info)

On June 23rd, two people were shot on 94th Street and 4th Avenue outside the Sneaker Store.

Neither the police or the politicians put out a message telling the public that the shooter was running in our neighborhood. (Info)

The caption in the photo says that the police were hunting for a suspect.

Most people didn’t know there were two suspects until the news shared that two people were arrested in August. (Info here)

Communication is poor in Bay Ridge. Politicians should be speaking with the NYPD and sharing the truth in a timely matter with the public – that doesn’t happen. (See here)
