Pam Harris Response to Bay Ridge Issues was VERY Delayed
Assemblywoman Pam Harris likes to take pictures and have parties. She even had a birthday party fundraiser for herself.
Yet, Pam Harris doesn’t like to do the real work of being a leader in our community . I have contacted her in the past and she didn’t respond.
Today I will show you how slow Assemblywoman Harris was to respond to Bay Ridge. Harris’ response time was around 21 hours after the resident made a post for help – long after others leaders handled the situation.
Today is Tuesday, August 30th. Yesterday 8/29/16, a Bay Ridge resident reported a homeless man to some elected and non-elected community leaders by tagging them on Facebook. This man has been in Bay Ridge for many years, but yesterday was a hard day for him. He was seen lying on the street and it was said that he urinated in public in front of children.
The first comment was made right away at 5:13 pm by Justin Brannan who says he is going to contact Breaking Ground and DHS (Department of Homeless Services).
Justin Brannan ALWAYS responds and tries to help – especially if he is tagged on a post. He lives in Bay Ridge and used to work for Councilman Gentile. Justin has a phone with a lot of numbers and reaches out for help for people in Bay Ridge all the time. He became known as the mayor of Bay Ridge. I don’t know Justin personally, nor have I ever spoken to him in person, but he is amazing and his love for his community is obvious!
After Justin, several employees of the Arab American Association discussed their outreach to this man. The man had refused help and appeared to have some mental health issues. They even asked him if he wanted to take a shower in their facilities, but he declined.
At 6pm, Josephine Beckmann of Community Board 10 stated: “This man has been reported to Breaking Ground many times. breaking Ground is the homeless outreach team serving our area. the team has interacted with him and he has in the past refused services. They keep trying. I see Justin called again… I pray they will have success as they have at many other locations with homeless in our community.”
Around 7 pm yesterday – Marty Golden responded and stated that the NYPD has been contacted. Golden then stated that the man refused services. He continued to say that some vets refused help, but when asked repeatedly sometimes they accept the help. Golden continued: “We have and continue to have homeless outreach and sweeps frequently. Please keep us posted.”
All excellent & TIMELY responses in Bay Ridge. That’s what social media is for.
————————————————————————————————–
Around 2 pm on Tuesday, August 30th, Pam Harris responded to the FB post with the info below.
I could understand if she didn’t see the post until the morning, but to write this in the mid-afternoon when the whole situation had been handled shows she isn’t really interested in being a leader here. Harris threw up some numbers in a copy and paste fashion. After posting it as a response, Harris copied almost the whole thing to her own Facebook page to make it look like she is working for Bay Ridge.
An acceptable response the following day should have been: “I’m just seeing this now. My team and I went out and looked for the man to see if there was anything we could do to help him. “
It’s 10:30 pm on 8/30 – that is why Harris’ post shows that it was posted 8 hours ago.
Hugs,
marlene

Hopefully people will wake up and vote her out this coming election. She got in through the back door with no primary.

I have been away from Brooklyn for several years now. I have not seen or spoken to Pam since then. The Pam Harris I knew never stopped helping people. Her whole life centered around this purpose. Anyone who knows her knows this. I find it hard to believe that the right thing to do is try to diminish such a person. Could she have changed so much?
Keep helping the homeless. Keep working together Brooklyn. Talking each other down has nothing to do with it.
I’m not a person who posts but I saw Pam’s name and remembered all the people she touched. To be sure, Pam is a an honest thick skinned individual and can take it.

Ronald,
I think the Pam you know from years ago is gone. Honest? LOL – we got the unmotivated Pam.
At the end of April, I went to get help from Pam. Her office wasn’t opened (even though she put out a press release advertising that it had been open for 6 months). I wrote about it here: https://queenoftheclick.com/pam-harris-closed-office-in-bay-ridge/
Treyger gave her organization the Coney Island Generation Gap a lot of money this year and last year. Harris says she did not accept rent. Her taxes reflect differently. You can see more about that here: https://queenoftheclick.com/the-papers-slammed-pamela-harris-today/
