Was Team Gounardes Asked to Leave Sunset Park on Sunday?

On Sunday, Andrew Gounardes showed up with two elected District Leaders to Sunset Park on 6th Avenue.

In Sunset Park, people do not mince their words. The man who was in charge of the market event in the park had a bullhorn and said, “We know you came here for a photo op, get the ____ out.”
The photo Gounardes posted to Twitter was quite different (here).
Jacqui Painter is from Red Hook and was just elected in June – she doesn’t know Sunset Park. But Julio Pena is from the area and should have known better!

Also note that Iwen Chu is with Gounardes and she clearly doesn’t understand this community!
Andrew Gounardes has been office for years and has never done anything to stop the land abuse in Sunset Park. Andrew never attended a rally in the adjacent community to stop the homeless shelters or even spoke out when Industry City was planning expansion several years ago.

Gounardes and his friend, Brad Lander seem very interested in the Waterfront Property of Brooklyn seen in District 26 in dark blue below:

For Painter and Pena to think Gounardes is a good match for Sunset Park, shows they don’t understand that community at all.

Painter and Pena should be telling Sunset Park that Gounardes voted to gerrymander the area. And Andrew Gounardes has accepted a lot of donations that he shouldn’t have accepted. (Info here and here)
Oh Jacqui and Julio if you should ever see this, I was born and raised in Sunset Park. While I love Bay Ridge, the community in Sunset Park is amazing….do better for them.
