Whenever I see a “In Contract” sign on a home, I know someone is excited about getting to their next step in life. A lot of time, thoughts and money go into buying a home, but the excitement in planning and getting set up is unforgettable.

The video is sadly highlighting the dissolution of a neighborhood that has been a vital part of Brooklyn for decades. What is there to be excited about? People being priced out and having to sell? A community and its history destroyed? This is heartbreaking, not celebratory.

Some people sold their homes to move onto warmer weather or to Staten Island or NJ to have a bigger yard. They are happy. Some people died and their families no longer live in Brooklyn. These In Contract sign is a good sign – for the person purchasing it and for the neighborhood (so there isn’t an empty house). New communities are always being formed here.
I understand what you mean about being “priced out.” We saved many years before we could purchase a home in Brooklyn….and that was because there was a big dip in the market.
