RIP Rami Elsuwi

On Thursday evening around 6:30 pm, Rami Elsuwi called his wife when he was riding home from his job in Williamsburg. He was a passenger in a hired car with a driver he used almost every day.

The driver took the Belt Parkway. The driver was supposed to be taking Rami to a property that he was thinking of purchasing. Source:

The news reported that Rami exited the vehicle through the back window of the car, near the 92nd Street pedestrian walk in Bay Ridge around 9:00 pm.

“When Elsuwi did not arrive home in Bay Ridge and did not answer his phone, his wife said she grew worried. She used the Find My iPhone feature, which led her to the side of the Belt Parkway.” Source: https://shorturl.at/1xpZp

Later, the driver told Rami Elsuwi’s wife that he did not know that Rami left the car until he got to the destination and Rami wasn’t in the car. See article: https://shorturl.at/fM6DH

How could he not tell that a man 6’3″ climbed out of his vehicle? Rami was tall – 6’3″ so something is strange about him going out the window of a SUV while on the Belt Parkway. There was no sounds from Rami opening the window, to him pushing his body out of the window and the wind coming through the car from an open back window?

The NY Post called this “an apparent suicide.” Source:

Rami’s wife said that Rami was a devout Muslim and didn’t drink, smoke or use drugs.

Something is missing from this story.

The news wrote that Rami worked in sports medicine and rehabilitation. He was a physical and occupational therapist.

The newspapers wrote that Rami hit his head on the guard rail. He suffered severe head trauma and died on the Belt Parkway. None of the papers explain why Rami was exiting the vehicle through the window on the Belt Parkway.

Rami Elsuwi was only 43-years-old. He had a 3-year-old son and a wife that was eight months pregnant.

If the driver said he didn’t know that Rami wasn’t in the car until he arrived at his destination then how did the news report this: The 69-year-old Uber driver stayed at the scene. From:

Tomorrow (Saturday, January 10th) is the service at Beit El-Maqdis Islamic Center at 6206 6th Avenue at 12:15 pm in Brooklyn. Rami will be buried in New Jersey:

Prayers for Rami’s family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Hugs,
marlene

This was not an Uber ride. It was a private ride not dispatched through a base. Uber did not dispatch the ride. This brings up multiple problems on a state and city level.
