Gas Line Rupture in Bay Ridge – 86th St. & Colonial Road

There was a large gas line rupture on 86th Street and Colonial Road to Ridge Blvd. Homes are being evacuated.
Residents two blocks away said they have been hearing a loud whooshing sound like a waterfall since before 5:00 pm.
Others noted that National Grid has been working on 86th Street and 3rd Avenue all week.
Many FDNY fire trucks are on the scene. Ridgites said they were nervous after they heard so many sirens. They closed 86th Street from Colonial Road to 3rd Avenue. Ridge Blvd from 85th to 87th Street is closed as well.

Update: The repair is being made. People are back at home. Some people on 87th Street complained that the smell is terrible.
