Patricia McGlone: The Unsolved Murder of a 16-Year-Old from Sunset Park, Brooklyn
Patricia Kathleen McGlone was a 16-year-old teen from Brooklyn who went missing sometime in 1969 or later.
Both the picture above and below are digital creations of that they think Patricia McGlone looked like. The NYPD have not been able to locate a photo of Patricia McGlone.
Patricia’s remains were found in 2003, over thirty years after she went missing. Construction workers were taking down an old bar at 301 West 46th Street in Manhattan. They saw a raised concrete slab in the basement. They broke the slab with a sledgehammer and found Patricia’s bones inside of a rolled up rug. There was no identification with the body, but there was a ring with P MCG (see below) engraved on it and a few other items. (See items here)
In 2024, the police were able to use DNA to link a relative of Patricia’s and that helped them identify her. (Info)
Patricia McGlone was born on April 20, 1953 in Brooklyn, and baptized at St. Patrick’s Church in Bay Ridge in July 1953. (Source)
Patricia’s parents were: Bernard McGlone and Patricia Gilligan. There was a 30 year difference between Bernard and Patricia. Bernard McGlone died in June 1963. Then Patricia Gilligan had a boyfriend named George Layburn. She said they were married, but he was married to someone else.
Patricia McGlone’s family lived in Sunset Park. The police went to her schools to get a photo of her, but Patricia was not present for any pictures in school. Patricia attended PS 94 from from first grade through fourth grade. Then Patricia attended OLPH Elementary from 1963 to 1966. She received confirmation at OLPH. Patricia was held back in sixth grade and repeated sixth grade at St. Michael’s. She left St. Michael’s because of a medical event in 1968 (pregnancy). She attended high school for nine days and in 1969, Patricia dropped out of school for good.
In May 1969, Patricia McGlone was only 16-years-old and she married a 32-year-old musician with a fake name: Donald Grant. Her mother was one of the witnesses at the Manhattan church. Donald Grant’s address was 301 W. 46th Street – the same building where Patricia McGlone’s remains were found.
Patricia’s baby was born in August 1969. She went missing after her baby was born.
“The NYPD wants to know more about the whereabouts of Patricia’s baby.” (Source) “The NYPD is very interested in learning more information about Donald Grant, and hearing from anyone who knows him. Grant — whoever he might be — is a person of interest in Patricia’s death.” (Source)
The police are also looking for the public to share photos of Patricia McGlone as they don’t have any.
Hugs,
