It It Was a “City for All” Plan, Justin Brannan Would Have Spoken Out About It in Bay Ridge
Councilman Justin Brannan played on social media today after NYC Council’s Land Use Committee and Zoning Committee voted for a modified City of Yes Plan. NYC Council will vote on the full plan in December.
Strangely, the two committees have four of the same people.
Justin Brannan has opposed Eric Adams on many things – Brannan even supported the candidacy of Adam’s opponent, Brad Lander last Summer (he and Gounardes were on Lander’s fundraising flyer).
Why hasn’t Justin Brannan shared any positive aspects of The City of Yes for Bay Ridge with Bay Ridge. While this politician fails to hold any community meetings, he does a lot of mailings and has not promoted any great aspects of the City of Mess project.
City Councilman Christopher Marte has opposed this rushed plan. “Marte said that this plan will lead to unaffordable housing conversions, loss of public buildings to luxury condos, and diminished livability in neighborhoods.” (Info) See video:
For my friends and moots in New York. For the New Yorkers.

Vote no on City of Yes. This plan is riddled with greed and will displace many people and small businesses, making it to where y’all will fight for the few affordable housing left. pic.twitter.com/f9Y1Dbb3Zo
When Community Board 10 held a meeting at Saint Anselm’s, Justin Brannan didn’t bother to attend.
Senator Andrew Gounardes attended the meeting, but stayed silent at the meeting.
The news said yesterday that the plan had been revised, but Brannan did not share any of the revisions with the community.
It looks like a windfall for real estate developers as usual. (Info here)
The head of NYC Planning, Dan Garodnick revealed that 80,000 units will be added to NYC. Strange thing: The City of Yes had not planned any changes for Gardonick’s neighborhood.
Then I noticed people talking about “carve outs” on social media:
