Buzz-A-Rama, The Last Slot Car Raceway in NY Closed After Being Open Five Decades

Buzz-A-Rama was a slot car racing place located at 69 Church Avenue in Kensington, Brooklyn. Although it had been around since 1965, kids loved operating the cars and racing.

Many people who went there as a kid, enjoyed bringing their children to Buzz-A-Rama as well. (See photos of the place here)

Last May, the owners of Buzz-A-Rama, Buzz Perri and his wife, Delores passed away. (See here)

There will be a final sale of old vintage items on Sunday, January 16th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Cash only.

Glenn was there today and shared this video:

It’s surprising that not one paper has covered this story, especially since Buzzarama has been closed for awhile.

RIP Buzz, a Brooklyn Legend.

A documentary was made about Buzz and Buzz-a-Rama. You can see it here.

Hugs,
marlene

Greetings from Portage la Prairie, Manitoba:

I just wanted to compliment you on this website and your efforts. I discovered your site this evening after following a story link on today’s “Who’s Out There” blog post about Buzz-a-Rama.

I’ve never been to Brooklyn, or even New York state, but thank you for introducing me to Bay Ridge in the content of your online community news blog.

    Please be well!

Hi Kevin! Thank you for stopping by. The Internet makes the world a lot smaller. If you ever visit NY, make a plan to visit Bay Ridge – it’s actually a very pretty area in an urban city. Buzzy from Buzz-A-Rama will be greatly missed.
