Best Jewish Deli in Brooklyn – Pastrami

1) Mill Basin Deli – 5823 Avenue T (and East 58th Street)- big sandwiches. The meat is delicious, but pricey.

2021 prices:  2 sandwiches and 2 hot dogs 1 soda was $63.00

The Mill Basin Deli also has the pastrami eggroll:

2) Edith’s Eatery and Grocery opened on January 11, 2022 at 312 Leonard Street in Williamsburg. Great story about Edith and the new place here.

(See menu)

3) Essen New York Deli – 1359 Coney Island Avenue (and Avenue J) menu

The pastrami here is really good.

4) David’s Brisket House – 533 Nostrand Avenue in Bed Stuy (See their sandwiches) Years ago they had a place in Bay Ridge.

This is not a kosher Jewish deli, but people love it. –Info here and here

5) Shelsky’s – 141 Court Street

7) Frankel’s Delicatessen at 631 Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint. This is owned by a rapper named El-P.

NOT A JEWISH DELI BUT FANTASTIC PASTRAMI

** Fette Sau – Williamsburg BBQ place – 354 Metropolitan Avenue – not a Jewish deli, but they have amazing pastrami. (Call before you go because they don’t always have pastrami) They are a pricey barbecue place.

Manhattan

Sarge’s Deli – 548 – 3rd Avenue

Katz Deli 205 East Houston Street

Harold’s New York Deli – the biggest stacked pastrami sandwiches you have ever seen

Great article about Jewish Deli’s and the reasons for the decline here.

Closed Deli’s in Bay Ridge

People in Bay Ridge always talk about having a Jewish Deli in Bay Ridge, but they were here and closed:

1) David’s Brisket House at 7721 – 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge closed years ago – there is still one on Nostrand Avenue.

l) Gold Coast Delicatessen 8530 – 3rd Avenue (it was open around 2011) – I think it was owned by the men who own Cebu Restaurant. It wasn’t bad.
