Metfresh Supermarket Fire in Bay Ridge

It’s raining in Bay Ridge now.
But earlier today – right before 2:00 pm, Bay Ridge smelled like fire.
We heard the fire engines race down 3rd Avenue to 96th Street. We could tell it was serious when more trucks continued to come for the next 10 minutes.
Metfresh Supermarket had flames coming out of the roof.
Belinda shared these pictures and videos:
Still working. This is “my” grocery store…right across the street. Wishing the owners/employees the best for a quick recovery too. pic.twitter.com/imJqv5tR9e

Look at the wind in her video:
New York’s Bravest to the rescue in #BayRidge Brooklyn today. Looked like a fire on the roof at the Met Fresh. These winds are no joke. pic.twitter.com/aS1ABeoNVR

See the dark smoke in the Citizen videos here
Thank God for the Bay Ridge firefighters – they extinguished the fire fast.
The Citizen App said there were no people in the basement of the store. A Bay Ridge resident shared some information about the roof in the comments!
The grocery store is not open due to the fire investigation, cleanup and repair needed. They are taking orders online and doing deliveries from the 4th Avenue store.
We hope MetFresh is able to restore soon!
Hugs,
marlene
