What No One Is Telling Us Important Information About the Property Community Board 10 Discussed Tonight?

In 2019, we learned from journalist, Meg McGoldrick what happened in the Nathan’s deal. (See here)
Many people in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights became leery of buildings being purchased by the city for double the price, as McGoldrick described. (See here)
Now the community is getting another school on ANOTHER busy avenue.
Why does Acris show us that the owner of Nathan’s is also the owner of that location, 8802 – 5th Avenue. (His name is on page 24 of this doc)
Does anyone think this is a coincidence?
Why did Councilman Brannan, this reporter (from Bklyner) and Community Board 10 leave out that information?
Tonight I am very disappointed in Community Board 10.
That information should have been shared before the vote and with the community. I think the vote should be voided because of what we see in the video.
In December 2020, a woman spoke at the Community Board 10 about putting her new business at 8802 – 5th Avenue. She planned to open A Learning Tree Pre-K center. (See here)
Then poof….she and her dream are just gone! And Community Board 10 didn’t mention it tonight even though this is the SAME PROPERTY.
Thank you to Ann F. from CB10. Ann tried to represent Bay Ridge. She threaded cautiously and tried to slow things down. Ann asked for them to check and use existing schools. Ann knows Bay Ridge. Thank you to Barbara G. who pointed out the other elementary schools which are VERY close in this vicinity.
But something VERY weird happened at 18:57 on the video. This isn’t about schools – it’s about politics.
At 18:57, Barbara talked about the Learning Tree school that was going to be built. She incorrectly referred to it opening across the street from this location (the Post Office is across the street from this location). NOW HERE’S WHERE THE WEIRD PART COMES. The male CB 10 representative on the video doesn’t correct her…nor does anyone else on CB10. Why? Don’t they know they are talking about the same property?
I don’t know anyone in this video, if you do, please CALL THEM UP. Ask them if they knew.
Call Community Board 10 718-745-6827. Ask them why families don’t deserve a better location for a school. Ask them if they knew this was the same owner as Nathan’s.

If all the members of this small team didn’t have the correct information, they should be able to call for an immediate re-vote on this.
The committee had a presentation that failed to show the property and include the past information from their meeting about The Learning Tree School. It’s clear some don’t have the background information they needed to make a decision for Bay Ridge.
And this shows we need a a new NYC Council representative….enough is enough. Brannan’s quote to Bklyner about the developer shows he thinks the people in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights are stupid.

The developer is doing the right thing for his business and there is nothing wrong with that – for him.
For our community – we need to do the right thing for Bay Ridge and provide families with a great location for a school – not one chosen like this. Community Board 10 needs to provide CB10 members with all of the information so they can make the best decision for Bay Ridge.
We all know #SomethingIsntRightHere
