Shotspotter in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn
I didn’t know what shotspotter was being used in Brooklyn! Did you?
An installation like this would not have been done if there wasn’t a need for it. The NYPD in Bensonhurst must feel this has a large amount of gun violence to support the installation!
Many times people have asked what these devices hanging on the poles are, yet no one has ever said Shotspotter. Most times people think they are for traffic.
Yesterday, gun fire was reported at Bay Parkway and 67th Street (See here)
Sometimes a car backfiring could sound like a gun.
Before police headed to that call on 67th Street and Bay Parkway, they went to 72nd and Bay Parkway because something called Shotspotter Technology detected gun fire. (See here)
