Bay Ridge is Losing Century 21 on 86th Street
One of the main attractions on 86th Street’s shopping strip in Bay Ridge was Century’s.
I heard the chatter about it closing in July, but when I called the store, I was told it was just a rumor.
Today, we found out that Century’s filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is closing all of it’s stores. Not only is this a loss in a nice store for the area, but also many people will be losing their jobs. Century’s announced that they would be having “Going Out of Business Sales Soon.”
We have to get another business in that spot ASAP. The bigger store brings the traffic AND people like to stop and get a slice at Pizza Wagon while they are shopping (RIGHT?)
I received messages from people telling me that this would be the perfect place for a Trader Joe’s. I agree it is the perfect spot, so I contacted TJ’s and told them to consider 472 86th Street in Brooklyn as a location for their store because they have several floors, plus parking.

A certain percentage of 86th street business comes over on the bus from Staten Island (I believe.) The street needs businesses that will continue to attract that population. That was a good thing about Century. They don’t have one over there.

Good day! Yes, I’d love to have a Trader Joe’s in Bay Ridge Brooklyn to replace the Century 21’s large space
The neighborhood needs access to affordable fresh organic veggies and grass fed meats !!! 86 St is very accessible via public transit and Trader Joe’s will be a great success !!! Bay Ridge iwill gladly support you!! And thank you in advance!!!
