Nicole Malliotakis’ Goya Canned Food Drive
Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis is having a Goya Canned Food Drive in Staten Island. All food collected will be donated to a local food pantry.
Last Thursday, Robert Unanue, the CEO of Goya complimented President Trump. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for a boycott on Goya. AOC’s followers complied to #boycottGoya – see it here

Find out more about the boycott here:
We’re all free to do w/our frijoles as we wish, but if you’re gonna #boycottgoya, pls don’t throw products in the trash. Donate the products to a food bank. And if you choose, u can replace your adobo with @badiaspices, Conchita, Iberia, Diana….many alternatives in the market. pic.twitter.com/maSoMnXw5D

People are throwing their Goya products in the garbage and showing it on social media.
#BoycottGoya I urge all my Twitter followers to boycott all Goya products. I have empty my pantry of all of them and thrown them in the garbage after my family had used them for over 50 years. They have betrayed all of us. pic.twitter.com/H8j1FygfoP

People started sharing their families recipes online: (more here)
The boycott has also caused people to run out and buy more Goya – either because they don’t want to be without it or because Republicans are stocking food pantries in protest. See here
Nicole Malliotakis is known for political shenanigans, but this one will actually help people since the food is being donated to a food pantry. Here’s what people thought about the food drive.
