Why Does the Shore Road Bike Path Look So Bad?

The Shore Road Bike Path is a mess. This video shows the area from Cesears Bay to Bay Ridge. I didn’t take it, but I thought it was good to share, so everyone can see the area.

Actually, the path looks good and is solid from the 69th Street Pier to the bridge. That area falls in Councilman Justin Brannan’s district, so he’s taken care of that.  But the whole length of the path isn’t in his district.

Mark Treyger is the Councilman for District 47. See the district map below.

Treyger lives in the gated community of Seagate, so the bike path isn’t his concern. This was  brought to Treyger’s attention a long time ago by a pastor of a local church. Why didn’t he have it fixed?

Local runners no longer use the bike path for long races because parts of the path are so broken that it is dangerous for runners. That’s the sad part. This area has always been used for races.

Nicole Malliotakis is the Assemblywoman for  the entire bike path (shown in yellow below).

Malliotakis has been busy running for election in 2020. She just continued running her mayoral election – sometimes she still lashes out at de Blasio like the election is still happening.

Diane Savino is the State Senator for the bike path.

Savino should walk her district once a year, so she has an idea what is going on. She could easily have asked a staff member to do it as well, if she cared.

marlene

Thanks for using my video. I actually agree with you about the bike path on the south side. I can confidently say this: The last time the south side was paved with new surface was back in 1992. I say this because, I remember the year I graduated from high school (Lafayette) was the year they closed it down to fix the overpass at Bay 8th and re-surface the path.

Also, I did a walking video of the 69th street side last week if you want to show the comparison.
