RIP Richie Capichano, Owner of C & S Jewelers
If you live in Bay Ridge, you know who Richie is. Richie owned C&S Jewelers on 3rd Avenue and 94th Street.
I didn’t know he passed away last month. I saw his store was closed and I asked the shops nearby, but they didn’t know anything. Today, I saw flowers outside and one of them told me Richie died.
I knew Richie many years before I moved to Bay Ridge. He was a good jeweler and could design anything you wanted for a fair price. When I bought my house here, I was excited to go in and tell him that I was moving nearby….but that I had no money for jewelry because I was paying a mortgage!
He also could fix any piece of jewelry and make it look like it was never broken. Richie created a piece of jewelry exactly like a picture I drew. His prices were fair and sometimes he would throw in something extra. More important though was that he had a relationship with his customers. He remembered me every time I came in and he asked about things that we last spoke of.
RIP Richie…..you were such a sweet man and we miss you a lot!
Update 10/18 – Richie’s son posted about the store. I noticed Richie’s FB Page was memorialized.
I had hoped his family was going to keep the store open as he was in business for 45 years.
Hugs,
marlene

My family bought it had made most of our jewelry over the past 40+ years from Richie. My parents engagement rings were designed by him, and Even in the last 20 years he would solder all my charms in my bracelets. He’d chat while you visited him, always fair prices and a great character. He was very funny- and talented.
I wasn’t in the store for a while and then saw it was closed. I am so saddened to hear of his passing.
Rest In Peace at the jewelers in the sky Richie. ????????????????????

I was surfing the web and came across this site. What a wonderful smile it brought to my face to see what you posted about our dad. He truly was one of a kind and so very missed.
Thank you for all your kind words. We keep a piece of him in our hearts.

Donna,
Your father was a very special person and one of the good guys in our community.
He is missed by many people. Anytime I meet someone on 3rd and 94th Street who knew him, people say, “Richie’s store used to be here.”
My husband used to run in to buy me gifts and you Dad would bring out the right things to show him…..so yes I really miss him.

I used to work for your dad in the early eighties, he taught me the jewelry manufacturing end of the business. I loved it and all his lectures and stories sorry I wasn’t aware that he had passed away
