Malliotakis uses Linda Sarsour as a Scapegoat to Capture the Jewish Vote
In February 2017, a Jewish cemetery was vandalized in St. Louis, Missouri. Linda Sarsour created a Launch Good crowdfunding project which raised $162,468 to repair the cemetery.
Malliotakis issued a press release that Kings County Politics blog printed. Malliotakis stated that Linda Sarsour was “a product of growing anti-Semitism.”
FACT: Although BDS supporters are often seen as antisemitic, Sarsour had show support/respect to the Jewish community. Sarsour has Jewish supporters. May 7th Update: And Rabbis come to bat for Sarsour.
Malliotakis wrote, “CUNY should rescind the invitation to Ms. Sarsour and consider a more suitable speaker, perhaps one who unites people rather than dividing them, to address its students,” said Malliotakis.”
FACT: Linda Sarsour was one of the women who organized the Woman’s March on Washington that brought 500,000 people together.
You may not agree with what Linda Sarsour says (like this, this or this), but you have to give her credit for being a Muslim woman who is speaking out and leading other women to do the same.
FACT: Malliotakis knew Linda Sarsour and Sarsour’s heart. In 2012, they issued a statement against hate together. Sarsour actually strongly supported Malliotakis’ run for Congress when hardly anyone else did.
Nicole Malliotakis is trying to run a campaign on hate like Donald Trump did. You can be morally bankrupt, but eventually that will get you in the end (and you still won’t be the mayor or NYC). I guess we are going to have months of Malliotakis press release politics and fact-checking as well.
Hugs,
marlene
