Stores like Anthropologie
My friends and I absolutely adore Anthropologie. We were trying to think of stores that are like Anthropologie or alternatives to Anthropologie because there aren’t a lot of great clothing stores in Brooklyn that we love. Of course there is no alternative to Anthropologie, but we do love Anthropologie sales and we buy items at Anthropologie’s competition:
Clothes which are like Anthopologie, but cheaper:
- Modcloth- nice quality stuff
- Shabby Apple-vintage inspired
- Needle and Thread – but these dresses are more expensive ASOS carries some items from Needle and Thread though
- Unique Vintage – nice styles
- Lace Affair – sooo pretty and good prices!
- DownEast Basics – inexpensive and cute (sometimes has Ruche items for less)
- Shop Ruche- vintage inspired (clothes look nice, but don’t feel good – sometimes has Modcloth items for less)
- Francesca’s Collections
- SHE INSIDE
- RoseGal – cheaper vintage dresses
- The Impeccable Pig
- Boden – nice items (run a bit smaller) have maternity & petites.
- Tilly’s – cheap romper’s, dresses and tops – some are very nice/some not.
- Alloy – sometimes they have one or two vintage choices
- Lulu’s
- Madewell
- Miss Selfridge
- Edressme – same prices as Anthro – nice stuff (maxi dresses)
- Top Shop (less romantic – more edgy)
- Sister store: Urban Outfitters
Cason and BCBG from Macy’s or Nordstroms. Free People is more expensive. **UPDATE: IF you love Free People, Check out stores like Free People here**
Handbags
- ASOS
- Paulina Carcache leather bags – shop on etsy too
Jewelry:
Housewares:
- Anthropologie’s sister site Terrain
- Beautiful bedding
- Garnett Hill has sheets like Anthropologie
- Dwell Studio -gorgeous bedding – good thread count
- Gorgeous Duvet Covers – some cheap!
- Very Pretty pillowcases from etsy seller – see here (I don’t know her, but I like these)
- Annie Selke has gorgeous quilt sets (but is $$) They also have Annie Selke Outlet with great deals (the deal of the week is always like 80% off – ex. queen sheet set $29.00)
- Soft Surroundings (also expensive & nice…sale area there too) – they also have an outlet with deals – if you see something you like get it because stuff moves fast here.
- Francesca’s Collections- housewares
- West Elm has some nice sheets, but the thread count isn’t as high making them less soft.
- Company Store has a few too.
- Ballard Designs has a small, but nice selection (quilt on the left is from Ballard Designs)
- Overstock just started selling pretty quilts. ($70 for the quilt and shams for a queen sized bed)
- Plover Organic
- JCPenny has a few cute prints and is known for being cheaper less expensive
- LL Bean –
- Brocade Hill -see the ribbon quilt
- Urban Outfitters – a sister store of Anthro
- Designer Living – nice comforters – good sales
- Pottery Barn
- Wisteria has great furniture
- If you sew or know someone who does, you can get modern fabric from Ikea and create a duvet or curtains. See Annamoa or Cecilia
What other stores do you know of?
Anthropologie generally doesn’t have coupon codes. Sometimes they have a free shipping code if your purchase is $50 near the holidays or $150+ more seen throughout the year . If you sign up for their free club card, you get a 15% off coupon sent to you for your birthday. When I linked that card number to my online account, I also received free shipping. The 15% off is not a code that you can use online. You can also sign up just to get their catalogs. It would be nice if Anthropologie did a friends and family event where they offered a 20% off code or discount to use online.
Something great about Anthropologie – they offered free gift wrapping at Christmas time last year. Usually it’s $4.00 an item.
Hugs,
marlene

Another cute site is Spool72. I could literally buy everything from the site. Love it all.
Or deloom.com I’ve purchased several things from them. They’re similar to shopruche with a bit more edge.

This isn’t quite an alternative, but I’ve had fantastic luck finding Anthropologie items on the secondhand clothing app Poshmark. They are often in perfect condition, and the prices are great.
Shameless plug: if you’re new to Poshmark, sign up within the app (not the website) using referral code UNXAZ to get $5 off your first purchase. First purchase also has 99 cent shipping, yay!
