Palestinians Rally in Bay Ridge 5/14/18
Palestinian Pride 5th Avenue #BayRidge between 71st and 72nd Street (outside of An-Noor) #Flags waving for the NABKA70 Rally. Jerusalem just became the capital of Israel today.
They marched and chanted: “Free Free Palestine. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” (see Video).
In the video, about 200 people are marching including a small group of Hasidic Jews can be seen supporting the Palestinians. Their sign:
Incidently, a very enthusiastic 23 year old Palestinian woman named Nerdeen Kiswani led the chant for the rally in the beginning.
Tomorrow, May 15th is Israeli Independence Day. For the Palestinians it is an annual day of commemoration of the displacement. I imagine many will mourn their country tomorrow.
NYPD 68th Precinct Community Affairs are on 5th Avenue and 72nd Street. Helicopters hovering. Several news stations were present – 7, 11 and another one?
The NYPD escorted the rally by car and by foot.
I can feel how upset the Palestinians are, but I don’t know anything to equate this to. The rally had so many young people who are very passionate about their country. One day better, more peaceful people and leaders will find a way to share the area. More pics here.
