New MTA Elevator on 86th Street
This project was planned years ago, but everything takes times. Marty Golden was Senator when the station was chosen for an elevator. See here Old newspapers papers show that Vincent Gentile and Golden sued the MTA for budget cuts that because there wasn’t an accessible train station on the R line.
The MTA is adding 48 more elevators to stations (and then another 22 as well) – see list here.

So happy to see this opening up! More subway elevators have been sorely needed, and they really help people with mobility issues and those pushing strollers. Glad to see this!
