The Salvation Army on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge Closed
Bay Ridge Cinemas filmed the video above and the store looks mostly empty – no clothes.
The Bay Ridge Salvation Army store closed for good on July 6th. Their rent was raised.

Oh it’s good you wrote because I meant to update this. The store closed yesterday – for good. Their rent was raised.

Internet resellers are ruining these thrift stores. A few years ago the women there told me there was a couple that came in every week and bought up all the quality high end designer jeans. These people spend $100s at a time and all that is left is crap. Then they make videos on YouTube showing their haul and complaining that the stores are raising their prices. If you call them on it they say there is plenty for everybody — but they took all the good stuff.

That store used to call certain people and tell them when they received designer items in stock.
A friend of mine would go in and purchase Louis Vuitton bags from them and resell them. I think that one was outdone by Piece By Piece, which is much larger.

Wow! That is unethical in my opinion. It’s one thing to tell people when shipments in general come in but — wow! Maybe they thought they were helping their sales that way, but if other people stop coming in because nothing is there…

I think a lot of the thrift stores get to know the regular people because they are always in the store. I shop for my classroom – either decorations or things for craft projects. I never found things at the Bay Ridge store. But I used to find decorations that were in new condition at E&J. They only sell cards and other collectibles now. But they would call people too because there is a limited number of people in Brooklyn who like Elvis or collect banks.
