Get ready for a lot more of the same, your Congressman Max Rose took part in a march on Staten Island where one of the chants was “Defund the police”.

    Debbie,

I will not vote for anyone using the words, “Defund the police.” Police reforms are needed, but politicians should not be demoralizing a whole department of cops to gain popularity with anarchist or socialists (whoever is supporting the “defund” movement). I saw the video and Max Rose was not saying Defund the Police. He did look for a way to speak, but at the same time he was with his new son and wife so I saw he couldn’t leave their side. I looked to see if he was speaking about Defunding the Police and he spoke out against those words. You see it: here

Should you see something different, let me know!

Just for clarity – the NYPD and all police departments need to do more training and reform their department to ward out

In my comment I did not write that he changed those words, however he stood with that group that carried signs with that slogan and chanted it. He wanted to be heard? I think he might have chosen a different forum to be heard. But that is only my opinion.

Here’s a picture of Max Rose, his wife and new son at the rally: https://twitter.com/MaxRose4NY/status/1268972570763804674/photo/1 I’m sure both parents were concerned about social distancing, but wanted to be present for a BLM protest in Staten Island. The signs around Rose and his wife show “No Justice – No Peace.” I hope you realize how important the was and why it was important for Rose to be there. Although you may not see the hate in your community among your friends, the systemic racism needs to be addressed across America. At the Black Lives Matter protests, some protesters go to the right. Let’s not sugarcoat the issue that reform and training is needed in the NYPD so that law enforcement isn’t stepping on the necks on black men. Racism is existing in places where people may not intend for it to exist, but it does and children are growing up and facing it…..and I don’t think anyone wants a kid to deal with racism, right?
