Volunteering & Donating in Bay Ridge




1) Volunteer at Reaching Out Community Pantrysign up here   


3) Volunteer at Bay Ridge Center  411 Ovington Avenue – the last Wednesday of the month from 10 to 3 pm – the Center needs volunteers who can translate Cantonese  to help people visiting the food pantry.


4) If you like cats, The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee needs people who can help clean up cages and socialize kittens during this week and weekend, sometime between 9 am and 4 pm. Call Dagny at 609 410 3405, if you can help.  


5) God’s Love We Deliver – the nonprofit organization founded in 1985 with the goal of bringing tasty, nutritious meals to the homes of cancer patients, AIDS sufferers and others coping with life-threatening illnesses, marked a major milestone this year. They packed meals for people in Bay Ridge – see here



6) Bensonhurst Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare – 1740 84th Street  is looking for volunteers for the Chapel and Eucharistic Ministers Contact Sr. Anne, 718-885-8484 x 732 


7) Holy Cross Church in Bay Ridge cooks meals for those who are homebound or have financial difficulties. Meals are cooked on one Saturday each month starting at 11:00 am. Volunteers are needed to shop for food, prep, cook and deliver the food. More info here


8) Volunteer to visit senior citizens in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst who could use a visitor. Sign up here   


9) Saint Athanasius – Volunteer are needed to cook or serve food on Saturday mornings for the homeless and poor. Contact: Dawn Aiello 718-232-3113

Donate Food




Food Pantries in Bay Ridge that need Thanksgiving canned food:


  • Foodtown  9105 – 3rd Avenue has paired with St. Patrick’s Church and the have bags of food for neighborhood family’s in need this season. The bags are right next to customer service and are about $10 each (you bring the bag to register and they ring up the items inside). After you buy the bag, they staple it shut and then it gets put in a bin to be transferred to the Bay Ridge Food Pantry so it can be distributed to families for the holidays.


  • Bay Ridge Center 411 Ovington Avenue – the last Wednesday of the month from 10 to 3 pm. Many senior citizens go here.


  • St Andrews Pantry – 6713 Ridge Boulevard. You can also drop off food at the rectory next door to the church



  • St. Patrick’s Pantry –  Bring food to the main office of the Rectory – 4th Avenue and 96th Street


  • St. Anselm’s Pantry 351 – 83rd Street (1st and 3rd Wednesday from 10 am – 1 pm)


  • Saint Athanasius 2154 61st Street
