Since Congressman Donovan Sleeps in His Washington Office, Can Brooklyn Residents Use His Office as a BnB?
Office by day, comfy bedroom at night….that’s how my Congressman, Dan Donovan uses his Washington office. Donovan claims the apartments in Washington are too expensive so he sleeps in a cot in his office.
Donovan’s salary as a Congressman is $174,000 a year and if you search for him here it shows he is doing well and has even received trips overseas. Yet. Donovan claimed he can’t afford an an apartment and he BELIEVES he has a right to use his office as a bedroom.
If Congressman Donovan can use his office like that, why can’t Brooklyn use his office as a BnB? The office is not in use at night and a small family would be able to live on cots and leave before Donovan’s staff arrived in the morning. There are plenty of Brooklyn families who aren’t doing as well as Donovan and could use some help. Since Donovan understands this, he should be offering his offices in Brooklyn and Staten Island for evening use.
Donovan is heavily funded by the Real Estate Industry and different Pacs (Political Action Committees). Why can’t those who are pushing his campaign offer him a place to sleep? Why does Washington allow employees to use their office in the evening? Is that covered in their insurance?
