If you are a parent and you want to celebrate the New Year with your children – here are some ideas.
1) The Owls Head Bar – 476 74th Street is open and I put them at the top of the list because if you forgot to make plans (or didn’t have the $ for the New Years Eve Parties, it’s good to know where the regular priced places are). It’s a nice place – wine and craft beer.
2) “NEW” The Brooklyn Firefly – no cover charge 7003 – 3rd Avenue. Reservations are optional but highly recommended! (718) 833-5000
New Year’s Eve at The Brooklyn Firefly! A Jazz with Cristina Gatti at 9PM. Bar seating is also available for dinner, and is first come first serve. Reservations for the jazz set in the back room are at two hour limits in the timeslots of 6pm, 8pm, and 10pm. If you’re sitting in the jazz room, you have to purchase a bottle (wine, liquor, champagne, etc.)
3) The Wicked Monk – 3rd Avenue between 95th and 96th Street – $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
4) Greenhouse Cafe – 77th and 3rd Avenue – early seating $42 a person – midnight party $85 a person
5) Fort Hamilton Army Base New Year’s Eve Party -8pm – 1 AM – 207 Sterling Drive $100 a person or $180 a couple 718-765-7368 ext 3 – black tie – tuxedos and gowns

1) Coney Island USA Funhouse – Tickets are $40 in advance, $50 at the door Doors open at 8pm with Half Price Beer and Wine until Midnight, for all ticket holders, at the Freak Bar! Laser show. More info on their Facebook page.
2) New Year’s Eve Fireworks in Coney Island (page is up – Steeplechase Pavilion, West 16th Street and the boardwalk 9pm, Fireworks 12am FREE
