McCabe Wants Crime to Be Addressed
According to Shorefront News, on Tuesday, November 19th at 12:30 pm, Liam McCabe will be outside of Senator Gounardes’ office at 8018 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge holding a press conference. McCabe wants Senator Gounardes to address the issue of crime in Bay Ridge. The recent vandalism on Shore Road has everyone in Bay Ridge talking. See here
I’m not sure that our electeds recognize there is a problem as Gounardes didn’t make a statement about the vandalism on Sunday. Yesterday afternoon, he issued a statement, but didn’t have any new solution to the Shore Road issue. His late statement (see here) made it seem like he wasn’t concerned, as it came after his press announcement (see here).
Apparently, McCabe is a District Leader in the 64th District now. I’ve never seen that mentioned anywhere. Just this week, he tweeted that there needs to be a Townhall meeting about the bike lanes in Bay Ridge.
Supporters of Gounardes chimed in and asked, “Why doesn’t Liam ask the 68th Precinct to address the crime?” SIGHHHHH…..anyone who lives here knows that isn’t going to happen (and we like the NYPD….but c’mon 68th precinct). Why do they expect so little from Gounardes? Gounardes’ hands off approach and late statement on Monday afternoon tell us this press conference isn’t going to go anywhere.
