Leif Ericson Day School in Dyker Heights Closed

Leif Ericson Day School just closed….we didn’t even see an announcement about this. It wasn’t mentioned in any of the local papers either. Leif Ericson was a private Christian grammar school at 1037 72nd Street. Next to the school is a church that was used by the school, so that is closed as well.

I didn’t hear any news of it closing. I just saw this message on Facebook.

Why didn’t the NYC School System buy this lot? Maybe it’s the wrong size? Many people aren’t happy with the set location for the new middle school – on the lot that was formerly Nathan’s on 86th Street.

Leif Erickson made an alumni group on FB here.

Hugs,
marlene

I’m so sad about the closing. My two sons w.Russell and Darren Methlie attended from kindergarten to 4th grade. The went on to Poly Prep. Their memories and love for their experiences are still in the front of their minds. As a parent I was grateful for giving them lessons of love, kindness, and forgiveness as well as an academic education. They both say to this day how much they loved Leif Ericson a d Bethany.
