Cyclist Hit on 3rd Ave. & 65th Street
A cyclist was hit tonight around 7:45 pm. on 65th Street and 3rd Avenue.

The status of the cyclist is not known. Hopefully he/she is alright.

This is so unfortunate. That’s a really dangerous intersection, and a lot of pedestrians have been hit over the years there as well. I would say it needs additional safety measures like curb extensions or bollards to slow drivers going onto the BQE or heading to Second Avenue. With a new school opening up on 60th next year, and another one at Senator Street, I hope the city/DOT takes action soon.
