Thursday, January 23

Ridge Kids Astrology Night at 8122 – 3rd A 7 – 9 pm.

 

NIA invites the public to PS 247 at 7000 21st Avenue from 6:30 – 8:30 pm for a Chinese New Year Celebration. This celebration  will involve delicious Chinese food, music, and a wonderful traditional Lion Dance Performance. Free.  More info

 

 

Sunday, January 26th

 

 

Lunar New Year Celebration on 8th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Celebration starts at 11:00 am on 8th Avenue and 50th Street. Performances from schools and senior centers, followed by the lion dancers and fire crackers.  At 1:00 pm, the parade begins at 50th Street and goes to 60th Street.

 

 

Brooklyn Children’s Museum  has a lot of events for children  11:00 – 5:00 pm. $13.00 a person.

Prospect Park Zoo – Lunar New Year animals. Every weekend in February to celebrate the festival of the new moon and animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Meet one of Prospect Park Zoo’s smallest animals – the super tiny Eurasian harvest mouse! Special activities, and a zodiac scavenger hunt are part of the fun. Learn how the Wildlife Conservation Society is helping animals in China and Southeast Asia!

Bao Workshop at The Brooklyn Kitchen in Sunset Park 268 36th St Industry City Bldg 2, Brooklyn 7 – 9 pm

Chinese Parade February 9, 2020 at 1:00 pm.  4 miles south
See colorful floats, marching bands, lion and dragon dancers, antique cars, beauty queens, and performers at Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival [website has sound]. The parade starts at Hester Street, goes south on Mott, east on Broadway, and north on Forsyth to Sara D. Roosevelt Park. Free.

Chinatown Lower Manhattan

Parade route: Mott & Canal to Chatham Square to East Broadway towards the Manhattan Bridge, completing on Eldridge and Forsyth Streets towards Grand Street next to Sara D. Roosevelt Park.

Saturday, February 15th

On Saturday, February. 15, 2020 from 1-2 pm, the Brooklyn Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza will have Lunar New Year Celebration with Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company. Free.  See here
