Bay Ridge GreenMarket Returns May 23rd

Update: Many Ridgites want local businesses to be supported, rather than bringing in farmers from outside of Bay Ridge to sell their vegetables.

The local businesses need to pay their employees, rent, utilities and taxes. These local stores are he ones who give back to the community!

Shopping local now is more important than ever!  Councilman Brannan should have through this through a bit more. But his base likes the market so he probably didn’t realize how it counters the local merchants.

Bay Ridge Greenmarket opens on May 23rd on 3rd Avenue and 95th – in the Walgreens Parking Lot.

It will be open every Saturday from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm.

Why did Brannan put his picture on this?  Didn’t Vinnie Gentile’s start the Greenmarket in Bay Ridge?

What do people buy at the Greenmarket?

People buy bread, baked goods, organic fruits and vegetables including: kale, spinach, romaine, spring mix, pacchoi, callliloo, chard, scallions, radishes, ramps, and peas. Sometimes there are vendors selling meat, eggs and honey too.

They take cash, debit and charge cards.

They also sell herb plants, lavender and sunflowers.
