Attempted Rape in Bay Ridge Stopped by a Good Samaritan

An  attempted rape happend on 5th Avenue and 90th Street in Bay Ridge at 1:30 am.   The saddest quote: “When I got there he was try to rape her. And she was on the floor with her pants under her knees,” said the man who intervened, who did not want to disclose his identity. Story here

>:(

Thank God for that Good Samaritan who came to help. I find that Bay Ridge is filled with so many good people who don’t hesitate to help.

I feel terrible for the 27-year-old woman that this happened to…….because this will be a defining moment in her life.

Something is wrong with communication in our community. This attempted rape incident happened two weeks ago- on August 25th and the police just decided to share the news. This is not 1980, we have social media and many ways to share information. It’s okay to not have a picture, but it’s not okay to wait two weeks  before the community is told.

It’s alarming to hear that Community Policing was enacted in our area and not one NCO shared that information with the community. Why did we get all of these officers if none of them are alerting the community to what is going on? Communication goes both ways.

Senator Golden used to do his job and inform the community about things that were happening. Not any more though……Golden either doesn’t care or no longer has a connection to the NYPD and didn’t know about the story until today when everyone else was informed by a news report about it. He retweeted the NYPD’s message – that’s it.

Senator Golden did not share information

Here’s what’s wrong with that: There are young woman all over Bay Ridge who need to know the neighborhood is not safe now. That information should be made available so that everyone has knowledge of what’s going on and neighbors can keep each other safe.

Hugs,
marlene
